Nature with its untouched beauty, Sikkim and Darjeeling provide excellent views of the snow-capped Himalayan mountains. On this tour, we begin with the sightseeing of Kolkata – the capital of West Bengal. It is said that in Kolkata, India and England collide. From visiting the famous flower market with a medley of colours and fragrance to seeing the house of Mother Teresa – the alleys and places of Kolkata makes a remarkable impression on the mind. From Kolkata, we fly to Bagdogra from where we drive further to Gangtok – the capital of Sikkim. We visit the Rumtek monastery, the largest monastery in Sikkim and the main seat of Karma Kagyu lineage, also known as the Black Hat Lamas. We also visit Droul Chorten, Research Institute of Tibetology, Directorate of Handicraft and Handloom, Flower Show and Enchey Monastery. In Darjeeling, we go up to Tiger Hill to view sunrise on Mt Kanchenjunga – the third highest peak in the world. We also visit the tea estates of the world-famous Darjeeling tea and take a joy train ride in the Toy Train, enjoying excellent scenery. With the happy memories of the beautiful places, we bid farewell with warmth in our hearts and fly back home from Kolkata.

ITINERARY:
  • Day 1: Departure
    Depart from home country.
  • Day 2: Kolkata
    Arrival at Delhi International airport, where our representative will receive you in a traditional Indian way of welcoming guests — with fresh marigold garland. Further transfer to the hotel.

  • Day 2 - Kolkata
    After breakfast, we proceed for sightseeing, visiting Howrah bridge built on river Hooghly which connects the city of Kolkata with the industrial town of Howrah. Later drive pass the Dalhousie Square Writers Building, Raj Bhawan, Kolkata Town Hall and the St. John’s Church. Thereafter we visit Victoria Memorial, a massive dome building made of white marble brought from Rajasthan. After that we visit Mother Teresa’s House, here lies the mother’s tomb and photo gallery on Mother Teresa and her work.

  • Day 3 - Kolkata / Bagdogra / Gangtok (1670 m)
    Transfer to Airport in Kolkata for onward flight to Bagdogra. On arrival at Bagdogra Airport you will be met by our local representative who will assist you to board your vehicle to Gangtok, which is a drive of 130 km / 5 hrs.
  • Day 4 - Gangtok
    After breakfast, we proceed for sightseeing of Gangtok, covering Rumtek Monastery, visible from the Gangtok town and 24 km trip to the southwest of the capital. The large Gompa of Rumtek is the main seat of Karma Kagyu lineage. We also see Droul Chorten, Research Institute of Tibetology, Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom (Closed on Sunday), Flower Show and Enchey Monastery. Evening free to explore Gangtok town and Lal Bazaar.

  • Day 5 - Gangtok / Pelling (2150 m)
    We drive 120 km / 5 hrs to Pelling, which is known for its spectacular view of Mt Kanchenjunga and also offers a panoramic view of other snow – capped mountains. En route, we visit Tashiding monastery by walking 30 mins. We also visit some villages on way to the monastery.

  • Day 6 - Pelling / Darjeeling (2042 m)
    In the morning, visit Pemayangtse Monastery and the ruins of Rabdangtse palace. From here, we have an excellent view of Mt Kanchenjunga – the highest peak of India (8585 m). Later, we drive 125 km / 5 hrs to Darjeeling.

  • Day 7 - Darjeeling
    Early morning, we visit Tiger Hill to view sunrise over Kanchenjunga peak. The peak is illuminated before the Sun is seen at lower elevations. We later visit Ghoom monastery, which has a 15 ft model of Lord Buddha inside – one of the biggest and oldest statues of Buddha in Darjeeling. We also visit tea estates. Later, we drive to Darjeeling Railway Station for Joy ride in Toy train.
  • Day 8 - Darjeeling / Bagdogra / Kolkata
    We drive 100 km / 3 hrs to Bagdogra. From Bagdogra, fly to Kolkata. Meeting and assistance on arrival further transfer to hotel to relax before we transfer you to the Airport for your flight back home.
